Singlehanded Single Trapeze Sailing Dinghies

This page will show you all of the single handed sailing dinghies that have been listed on the website that have a trapeze wire.  This page excludes multi hulls but includes boats with spinnakers.

Due to the laws of physics, the amount of sail area that a boat can use usefully is goverened by its righting moment - or ability to get weight outboard (on the windward side).  A trapeze wire helps massively with this as someone on the trapeze wire is not only stood on the most outside edge of the boat, but also the energy is contected directly to the rig via a wire.  Hence Trapeze boats tend to be quite fast.
